27 Juli 2004 - Darmstadt, Germany - betriebshof/zajedznia Frankenstein: What a brilliant name for a tram depot! Lurking in the gloom at the back of the shed in 2004 was this tram locomotive, built by Henschel in 1919. It is probably operational by now.

6 September 2008 - Darmstadt, Germany - Alsbach: The lovely steam tram and its train pose for photographs near the end of the long route from central Darmstadt. Although the steam tram does not run very often, this trip is one of the best experiences you can have with your clothes on - if you have the chance, you should try it!

6 September 2008 - Darmstadt, Germany - Heidelberger Landstrasse, Seeheim: A very tight spot in Seeheim village street, just passing a bar - I don`t know why we just drive past without stopping for a beer, but perhaps the tram driver was in a hurry? The buidings are almost close enough to touch from the steam tram.

6 September 2008 - Darmstadt, Germany - Heidelberger Landstrasse: The steam tram where the tracks, shared with the normal electric service, run close to a main road. The open trailer was built originally for the famous OEG system around Mannheim.

6 September 2008 - Darmstadt, Germany - betriebshof/zajedznia Frankenstein: A very special trip for enthusiasts with the historic steam tram train in Darmstadt, here being prepared in the depot yard ready for the journey. The locomotive began life in 1917 with an industrial user and originally ran on 900mm gauge, altered when it came here in 1957. A selection of suitable trailers has also been assembled over the years.
