Mr. Tomasik said, that the line had been built in 2005: http://www.phototrans.eu/14,321443,0.html
Must ask my girlfriend about this - her house is somewhere nearby. I would guess this was built in anticipation of demand that never came. That part of the city is expanding, and the line may just have been built much along the lines of similar extensions in Germany (also bear in mind Arad has pretty much no buses!). The question is: did they choose to only run two trams a day, or is this down to political stupidity or lack of rolling stock or something else?
There appear to be many working trams in the depots, so unless there is a driver shortage I believe that simple lack of demand is the reason. The competing buses come from a variety of operators and not CTP Arad.
That's interesting - Arad (as far as I know) is the only city with two completely idiotic tram lines used by noone. I can't understand, why lines to Platforma Vest and Combinatul Chimic are still operating...
....but we enthusiasts always go there
As far as the line to Comb Chimic is concerned - never underestimate the force of habit
We went there, too - just two trams in convoy that loop round and come straight back without stopping - how stupid is that?
1124 is the number of time in Halle/Germany. These are also the number-signs of Halle, and also the name Kröllwitz is from Halle time.
