2 April 2011 - Oradea (RO) – Olosig. The long-established Oradea system seems to be one of the most efficient tramways in Romania. Tracks are good, services run to high frequencies and there is a mixed fleet of well kept ex-Dresden, Magdeburg and Berlin Tatras and some new Vienna-style Siemens ULF cars (still the only fleet of new trams bought in Romania for many, many years). Here is one of the ULFs at the western junction of the city circle. As these have now been in service for nearly four years, we asked the depot manager how they were performing. “The Siemens warranties start to expire next year, so I will probably be looking for another job just before then”, he joked. So, it sounds like they haven’t been entirely trouble free!
