NICE VEHICLE. I WANT TO KNOW WHAT IS DIFFERENT 280.40 AND OTHER BKV 280. ENGINE AT ALL IS D10.
In 1998 BKV gathered 50 Ikarus 280 and sent them to the Ikarus factory, Székesfehérvár for renewal. All buses got brand new engines (Rába D10 UTSLL160, Euro II), new seats, new windows, handrails, (the older ones got new doors and axles too) etc. and an unique livery, because these buses used to operate only on 7 and 173 express lines. The types was also modified from Ik 280.49 to 280.40A. In 2008 these two lines were renamed and first BKV vanished the "7-173 Gyors" text from the buses, then they started to repaint them to the usual blue-gray color. You can see some very good pictures of these "Gyros" buses here: http://iho.hu/hir/eltunoben-a-gyors-7-173-vilaga-120524
Thanks a lot.
