12 Mai 2007 - Gmunden, Austria – Kuferkelle. The other historic car at Gmunden is this 1911 Graz-built tram. Here it climbs steadily along narrow back streets, on the way up from the lake to the railway station – another very squeezy tram place!

12 Mai 2007 - Gmunden (AT) – depot/zajezdnia. Historic car #5 dates from 1911 and is here seen outside the little depot. A very traditional style of tram, like those found in many Austrian cities in the early years of the 20th century.

12 Mai 2007 - Gmunden, AT - Esplanade: Looking back at the little Gmunden tramway, just before the line is extended to link with the Traunseebahn light raillway, just a short distance away along the lakeside. This tramway is (currently) the shortest in Austria, and also the steepest, reaching 2.3km and a gradient of 9.6% on its way from the lake to Gmunden railway station. Car #5, seen here, was built in 1911 in Graz and is a typical small-town tram of the period.

12 Mai 2007 - Gmunden, AT - Alois Kaltenbruner-Strasse: Car #5 of the Gmunden tramway gets to grip with the 9.6 percent grade on the route between the lake side and the railway station, which is a long way above the town. The celebrated Stern und Hafferl company, which operates several light railways in Austria, bought this tramway many years ago and has run it ever since, using second-hand trams from Austria and Germany.
