6 Dezember 2016 - Burgas, Bulgaria. For those from abroad I need to tell that many things about our public transportation have changed in the past 5 years. We got new buses, new trolleybuses, new minibuses, but also new districts as well. In 2015 the villages Cherno more and Rudnik officially became districts of Burgas and since then tickets for route 61 cost 1 leva for all the trip. People from the 2 districts, however, had to take a bitter pill because the new Solaris buses were intended for all the other urban lines and at the time they were ordered, the operator had no intention to use them on this route, so 61 became the only urban route to be operated with old buses. 1 MAN NG272, 2 Mercedes O405G and 1 Setra SG219 were the only articulated buses in Burgas that weren`t Solaris and remained in service only on this route aided by the buses operating on suburban and interurban routes. In the summer of 2016 new ticket-vending system was introduced in all Solaris and Tedom buses with special cards that allow you to change buses unlimited times in the course of 45 minutes, though until all vehicles receive validators, you can still buy a one-time paper ticket from the "conductor". On 26th November public transportation in Burgas received a whole new scheme with many new routes and the new route to Rudnik received the number 6. In addition, 7 Solaris Urbino 18 Metrostyle were delivered not only for the passengers from the new districts, but also for the other routes because the new scheme proved to be in need of a little more units. The new buses have been in operation since mid-February, 2017 and as of today operate only weekdays on route 6 because they have no validators yet and this route along with the two trolleybus and two or three minibus routes is validator-free.
This photo was taken on 6th December - the official holiday of Burgas and last year all urban routes were free of charge that day. The picture was taken at the last stop in Rudnik. As of today, the bus is no longer in service, but still with its registration plates. Maintenance of the old articulated buses was very low in their last couple of years, because it was already known that they did not have much left and the roads to Rudnik are God-awful. Of all four buses the MAN looked the worst, especially on its right side - a worn 5-year-old saudage advertisement and many holes from rust on the fenders.
23 Juli 2014 - Burgas, Bulgaria. Unlike the better part of the fleet that ran before February, 2013, most of the Mercedes O405N buses remained in service after the coming of the Solaris clones, but they are no longer used for the urban routes, getting sent to near towns and villages instead. Route number 5 goes to the village of Rosen.
16 September 2011 - Burgas, Bulgaria. Possibly the best-looking Mercedes O405G buses of "SBA" is seen in Burgas in the end of the tourist season of 2011.
1 April 2012 - Veliko Turnovo, Bulgaria. The interior of a midi Neoplan bus which used to belong to "Atanasov" and is currently property of "Nadezhda".
9 März 2012 - Veliko Turnovo, Bulgaria. A MAN bus having a break on the last stop of line №40 just a day before Tzarevetz Square and Kliment Ohridski Street got closed for repairs that are set to carry on for 3 months.
26 Oktober 2011 - Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria. In the month of October, last year, the railroad between Veliko Tarnovo and Gorna Oryahovitza was closed for repairs and "Nadezhda" were paid to supply buses that would transport passengers of BDZ (the Bulgarian railroad operator) between the two towns in both directions. I call this MAN "The Negro" and I think it's clear why - a bus painted like that is probably almost invisible in the night :P The picture was taken at the rail station in Turnovo.
This Neoplan happened to often perform the task. The picture was taken at the rail station in Turnovo.
Januar 2011 - Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria. Inside a MAN NL202 in Cholakovtzi district. For such an ugly bus, the interior is very clean and in good condition.
8 Oktober 2010 - Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria. I'm not sure about the exact spot on the map, but this picture of the interior of the only Citaro bus in the city was taken on the last stop of the line number 9 in Kartala.
23 April 2010 - Sofia, Bulgaria. I'm not 100% sure about the exact spot on the map, but I was told that I had taken the photo on the Andrey Saharov Bld. Here you go - a Citaro with an absolutely unnecessary advertisement, but I guess the operator doesn't have many old buses to put advertisements on.
22 April 2010 - Burgas, Bulgaria. A very rare bus - a Scania with a Mercedes O303 facelift. I'm sure it isn't a Mercedes, because there are "Scania" signs everywhere in and on the bus, including the steering wheel and that plate put by the manufacturer, where there are all the charasteristics of the vehicle. If somebody can estimate the exact model of the bus, I'll be very thankful.
1 Juni 2009 - Burgas, Bulgaria. The fastest MAN NG in Burgas on the line number 30, which is already an urban line since a few months. Banevo and Vetren are no longer villages, they are districts now.
28 Februar 2009 - Plovdiv, Bulgaria. An environmentally friendly Mercedes O405N2 bus on the line number 12. I'm not a big fan of this model, but I must admit this one looks fine :) It would look even better, if it wasn't the advertisement...
28 Februar 2009 - Plovdiv, Bulgaria. A Mercedes O405N (not sure for the last two letters from the registration plate) on the line number 99 is seen turning from Pobeda Street to Bulgaria Boulevard.
12 September 2008 - Burgas, Bulgaria. The only Neoplan N216 of "BurgasBus" is seen just getting back from Primorsko. As you can see, the bus is not "wearing" that ridiculous advertisement it had on itself several months ago and it's not on the line Burgas-Bulgarovo-Burgas, where it spent all of its time in service for nearly a year.
25 Juli 2008 - Burgas, Bulgaria. A Neoplan N4021 on the line Burgas-Ravda-Nesebar is captured while leaving the bus station near the Port of Burgas. These are the only low-floor buses in Burgas that I like and don't perceive as coffins. So, when they left the urban lines in April, 2007, I was very angry at BurgasBus and I still am.
23 Juli 2008 - Burgas, Bulgaria. Another beautiful ancient Neoplan is seen on the Bulair Boulevard just leaving the bus station near the Port of Burgas and heading to Sozopol.
17 Juli 2008 - Burgas, Bulgaria. A terrible coffin on the line Burgas-Ravda-Nesebar. I'm always happy to see that there is at least one coffin that isn't driving on the urban lines, especially on 211, which I use to use. Let the tourists bite the dust ]:)
14 Juli 2008 - Burgas, Bulgaria. Now here is a photo of the coffin from the outside. The "bus" is seen on the line number 12, driving on the Struga Boulevard.
12 Juli 2008 - Burgas, Bulgaria. The one and only O405G of "Burgasvolan" already in service. You see that there are two signs with a number of the line. That's because the lines number 7 and 25 become one line in the weekends.
11 Juli 2008 - Burgas. Bulgaria. Inside a MAN NG coffin on the third stop of the line 211. This is the one with the best looking interior from all the pieces in Burgas. BTW, take a look at the cabin - it's made of parts from Chavdar 141.
2 Juli 2008 - Burgas, Bulgaria. It's not fair - this Mercedes was one of the best looking buses of "Burgasvolan" and they put an advertisement on it, while other buses sneak around with rust and not that satisfying appearance!
2 Juli 2008 - Burgas, Bulgaria. A rare sight - a MAN SG 242 on the line Burgas-Ravda-Nesebar. These buses are not purposed for intercity lines. They can be seen mostly on the line number 211 as well as on the lines 12/12a and sometimes on number 4. This particular bus should be awarded "the bus to change the biggest number of advertisements for a nick of time". This one is the fifth in its list since 2004. Or maybe sixth if we count the German one it got here with. It's important that I mention that the bus had a crash last year, so that's why the front bumper looks so strange.
22 Juni 2008 - Burgas, Bulgaria. MAN Lion's Top Coach parked on Maria Luiza Street. It probably spends its time out of service here. Operators, that don't possess garages for their vehicles oftenly leave the buses near the driver's home.
About Duni: it's a holiday settlement. I don't know wether it should be written in the database as a separate city or as a part of Sozopol.
7 Juni 2008 - Burgas, Bulgaria. The advertisement thi bus had, turned out to be very persistent. And, for those, who wanna know, the line number 18 goes to the villages named Marinka and Tvarditza.
Februar 2008 - Burgas, Bulgaria. And here is the same Neoplan last Winter. I believe that the recycle bin in the left symbolises the place this advertisement should go. The advertisements of "Yavlena" are so badly executed technically that if a rain falls down, they look like if they had been put on the buses about ten years ago. And that's not the only example. But now the situation is better - the new advertisements of "Yavlena" are much more reliable and can last longer.
2 Juni 2008 - Burgas, Bulgaria; San Stefano Street. This Neoplan and his brother drive on the line number 30 and other near village lines since April, 2007. This is one of the worst mistakes ever done by "BurgasBus". Not only did they take away two of the best articulated buses from the city lines, but the operator took care both of the Neoplans get amortisated for just a year. Now the buses are in terrible condition (just like most of the other buses that drive on the village lines) - you can hear the rattling even from outside the vehicles and when you get in, you have the feeling that the ceiling is going to fall. The buses are also in a bad cosmetical condition.
25 Mai 2008 - Burgas, Bulgaria. An MB Travego bus on the line Sofia - Stara Zagora - Burgas and probably the reverse. I guess in the moment I was taking the picture it was just heading to Stara Zagora. In Burgas, there seem to be so many operators that I hardly notice them if they don't have buses running on city lines. Actually, new coaches are too boring for me and since "BurgasBus", for instance, don't have enough money to purchase them, I don't care who does.
10 Mai 2008 - Burgas, Bulgaria. This MAN bus likes it dirty :] The photo is taken in front of the garage of another transport operator in Burgas - "Comfort". You can even see an Isuzu, property of the operator. But let's talk more about the MAN bus! The line 101 is a line available in the mornings and the afternoons in the weekdays (10 may wasn't part of a weekend for us in Bulgaria, so the line had to be available on that Saturday. Why? It's a long story!). The interesting about this line is that it's a one-way line, so when the buses finish the route, they have to get back empty to the first stop, crossing the half city. And also in the afternoon the route is in reverse in comparison with in the morning. I mean in the mornings the first stop is in the district of Izgrev and that same stop becomes a last stop later in the afternoons. I hope you got me right!
11 Mai 2008 - Burgas, Bulgaria. Yesterday, I showed you the best looking MAN bus in Burgas for me. Today I'm presenting you the ugliest one. It looks like it was built for India or other poor Asian countries. I suppose the suspension is like the one used for the trucks and there are no airbags. This particular model is completely unknown for me, so if somebody knows its name, please, edit the info about the vehicle.
P.S. The bus line is Kameno-Burgas-Kameno.
30 April 2008 - Burgas, Bulgaria. A beautiful (I've never thought that someday I'm gonna say such thing) MAN coach, that I've noticed recently, is heading to Sozopol, because as you can figure out it's going on the line Burgas-Sozopol. It's just getting out of Ivan Vazov Street and is going on a short bridge which relates Ivan Vazov Street and Industrialna Street.
26 Oktober 2007 - Burgas, Bulgaria. A Neoplan that drives only on the line Burgas-Bulgarovo shot in front of the "Ritoni" store. The bus was scrapped in April, 2008. I love old Neoplan coaches and all though I've never riden in this one, let this serve for an obituary. If you know the exact model, please, correct the data in its profile. In left there is not much of another scrapped bus.
26 November 2007 - Burgas, Bulgaria. A Neoplan of "Minibus Express" on the line "Kameno-Burgas-Kameno" (Kameno's got to be some kind of a near village) is caught while running on the Hristo Botev Street.
26 November 2007 - Burgas, Bulgaria. A Scania of "BurgasBus" is caught everal metres of the stop named "The Opera", because it's situated in front of the Opera of Burgas on the Hristo Botev Street. The line №5 goes to the Rosen Mine (actually, I think it's a village, but they just call it a mine or maybe it's situated near a mine). The bus is Turkish, isn't it?
26 Oktober 2007 - Burgas, Bulgaria. A former Luzern O405G is with unknown future. "Burgasvolan" don't need articulated buses so this one is not in service and only changes its places from time to time. It's starting to rust already. On the picture the bus is in "Meden Rudnik".
26 Oktober 2007 - Burgas, Bulgaria. Conecto on the line 4 is captured, while being on a street I still don't know the name of. And I have a suggestion. Why don't we make a subject called: "Please, get me to the car wash immediately!"?
26 Oktober 2007 - Burgas, Bulgaria. One of the most good looking buses in Burgas is caught seconds before leaving the bus station near "Billa" (this time the store is captured too). The line is 7. If the ugly and discomfortable plastic seats were missing that would be the perfect bus for me.
24 Oktober 2007 - Burgas, Bulgaria. The only O405 of "Burgasvolan" is standing just for a photo session at my favorite bus station near "Billa", where I can shoot lots of buses :) It's a shame that the car wash is an expensive luxury for the buses in Burgas. The strange thing about this bus is that its gearbox is manual and the engine sounds just like the one of O305! BTW, the line 25 goes to a quarter named "Dolno Ezerovo".
24 Oktober 2007 - Burgas, Bulgaria. MAN SL 200 on the line 25 and a street which I don't know the name of :D And better ask the driver why he was driving with open doors ;)
16 Oktober 2007 - Burgas, Bulgaria. Hristo Botev Street in the city center, near the herbal pharmacie (yes, maybe I have to take pictures from somewhere else too, he-he). A picture of A 1157 BM in its look without a commercial (don't worry, they will sure find one for it soon) on the line 12.
16 Oktober 2007 - Burgas, Bulgaria. The latest addition to the buses of the private operator "Burgasvolan" is caught running on the line 17, which goes to Kraimorie - a distant quarter of Burgas where you will go if you catch the way to Sozopol. The picture is taken on Hristo Botev street in the city center near the herbal pharmacie.
