Not even a year and a half ago, Bus Éireann`s commercial operations, dubbed Expressway, were running widely and successfully. The subsequent pandemic however led to numerous cuts: it turned out to become the perfect excuse to cease running routes X1 (the inter-capital connection is now operated solely by the Northern Irish operator) and X12, and many other routes lost many departures. In 2018, route 20/X20 connecting Galway and Dublin saw 16 departures each way Monday to Friday and 14 on weekends - now we are down to 6 departures each way daily (three laps, including this one, operated by the Dublin garage, and the remaining three by Galway garage). Unfortunately I don`t have the information to compare the situation with that from before the pandemic effectively, however currently the capital`s depot deploys only 10 Expressway duties - I am however happy to bet that this is perhaps even only a third of what used to be deployed in 2019.Galway, bus and rail station.

Obieg 200101, postój pomiędzy kursami linii 20 Dublin Airport 7.00 - Galway 11.10 a X20 Galway 13.30 - Dublin Airport 17.05.
Jeszcze półtora roku temu komercyjna działalność państwowego przewoźnika pt. Expressway działała nader prężnie. Pandemia jednak doprowadziła do naprawdę poważnych cięć w ofercie: okazała się być idealnym pretekstem do zaprzestania kursowania linii X1 (teraz połączenie pomiędzy dwoma stolicami irlandzkiej wyspy realizuje tylko północnoirlandzka strona) i X12, a wiele innych linii straciło wiele kursów. W 2018 roku na linii 20/X20 łączącej Galway i Dublin realizowano 16 par kursów w dni powszednie i 14 w weekendy - obecnie rozkład został zredukowany do sześciu par kursów codziennie (trzy kółka, m.in. niniejsze, realizuje stołeczna zajezdnia, pozostałe trzy zajezdnia w Galway).
