5 September 2010 - München (DE) - Deutsches Museum Verkehrszentrum. A München bogie tram built by HAWA in Hannover in 1930, which ran until 1972. This Type was classified as F2.10 in the München fleet.
5 September 2010 - München (DE) - Deutsches Museum Verkehrszentrum. A Kassbohrer Setra coach. This was an early lightweight integral design, with no separate chassis, where the bodywork supports the mechanical units. Very advanced for its time.
5 September 2010 - München (DE) - Deutsches Museum Verkehrszentrum. A three-axle trolleybus of the Solingen system, built by MAN in 1986 with bodywork by Graf und Stift.
5 September 2010 - München (DE) - Deutsches Museum Verkehrszentrum. Ex-801 of the Nürnberg tramways, built by MAN in 1926 and in service until 1963. It was converted into a works car and finally retired in 1975.
5 September 2010 - München (DE) - Deutsches Museum Verkehrszentrum. A short tour of this impressive transport museum, where you can find trams and buses as well as railway engines and many amazing cars. This typical München Type M tram was built by Rathgeber in 1950 and ran in service until 1994 – it looks like it has only just arrived here.
6 September 2010 - München (DE) – Steinstrasse. Some parts of the city centre have been pedestrianised, so trams have a clear run through the narrow streets. Here, 2412+3407 pass through an attractive part of the old city. These M4-Type trams date from 1957 and were once numerous – now they are only seen on special occasions.
6 September 2010 - München (DE) – Betriebshof/zajezdnia 2, Einsteinstrasse. This MAN bogie tram dates back to 1926 and is now a snowplough and line inspection car. Riding in that little top deck must be good fun.
6 September 2010 - München (DE) – Westfriedhof. Type P and Type M trams come together. Note the enormous width of the P-Type design, compared with the M-Type of just ten years earlier.
6 September 2010 - München (DE) – Olympiapark Sud. An M-Type tram set (2412+3407) from the München museum fleet. This three-axle design by the Rathgeber company is unusual, to say the least, but München seemed to like them. Some of these trams still run in Craiova (RO), where they don’t seem to be so popular with the workshop staff.
6 September 2010 - München (DE) – Betriebshof/zajezdnia 2, Einsteinstrasse. These P-Type cars are the classic München trams of the 1960s and a few still run in all-day service in what otherwise is an all low-floor fleet. They won’t last here much longer, though – perhaps they will reappear in Romania?
